Wei Guoping of China won the gold medal in the men’s para cycling individual C4 time trial event at the 2018 Asian Para Games on Monday, Oct. 8.

Despite starting the race in third place, Wei managed to surpass the two para cyclists ahead of him.

He recorded a time of 27 minutes and 57.46 seconds.

“I made the two para cyclists my target. So I tried to keep up [with them],” said Wei after the competition held at the Sentul International Circuit in West Java.

This year marked Wei’s second time competing at the Asian Para Games after representing his country in another event at the 2014 Asian Para Games.

The Chinese athlete said he enjoyed competing in Indonesia because of the friendly people.

Indonesian para cyclist Muhammad Fadli managed to secure the silver medal while Malaysian Mohd Najib Turano took out the bronze medal.
