Vietnam powerlifter Dang Thi Linh Phuong has been tipped as the 2018 Asian Para Games’ gold medal favorite in the 50 kg weightclass of women’s para powerlifting.

Dang is considered the strongest contender in the women’s 50 kg, as she is the highest-ranking powerlifter in the Asian Para Games, ranking second in the 2018 World Para Powerlifting rankings for Asia.

The Paralympic athlete has recorded the best lift at 95 kg, far above the best lift of 82 kg by Kazakhstan powerlifter Abdykhalykova Gulbanu, who ranks third in the world.

Dang’s has a high chance at winning a gold medal in the event, because world No. 1 Hu Dandan of China is not participating in the 2018 Asian Para Games.
